Standard Setup: Fitting to the Vehicle Towbar

The standard setup is to fit the hook kit to the vehicle towbar anchor point, then connect your trailer safety chain to the hook.

Before ordering, check your towbar anchor points and safety chain setup.

• Kits are designed to connect safety chains to the towbar.
• Check that your towbar anchor points can accept the hook size.
• Light Trailer kit requires an 11mm hole.
• Heavy Trailer kit requires a 13mm hole.

Important: Do not assume every towbar anchor point will accept the connector size without checking.

Optional Setup: Fitting the Hook to the Trailer Chain

Some customers prefer to fit the certified hook to the trailer safety chain, then hook back onto the vehicle towbar anchor point.

For this setup, you will need additional chain connectors to attach the certified hook assembly to the trailer safety chain.

Important: This accessory setup is only required if you want the hook fitted to the trailer chain. 

Trailers Above 3,500kg ATM

If your trailer ATM is above 3,500kg and it uses short link lifting chain, the hook may not seat directly on the chain.

In this case, use 2 × 10mm Omega Links, one per safety chain.

The Omega Link creates a rated connection point between the lifting chain and certified hook without cutting or welding.

• Confirm your trailer ATM.
• Confirm your safety chain size.
• Check your towbar anchor hole size if fitting to the vehicle towbar.
• Check if extra chain connectors are required if fitting the hook to the trailer chain.
• For trailers above 3,500kg ATM using short link lifting chain, add 2 × 10mm Omega Links.
